Eight old growth trees that managed to withstand all the hardships of the past and stay in history as the Sacred Grove or Vakoufi, according to Turkish Sultan. So great was the love of the Patriarch for the area that managed through negotiations to come to an agreement with the Sultan and save the monasteries and residents of the area.
