The Mother Olive Tree of Kalamata

The symbol of the city stands proud for perhaps 800 years – or maybe more – reminding everyone the close relationship that Kalamata has with olive. Its height is 14 meters and the circumference of the trunk is nine meters. It is considered to be the mother plant of the variety “Kalamon”. For those who want to admire it, they can find it in the University of Peloponnese.
