Description
Historical, enormous and imposing stands in Panagia Square the Olive Tree of Nafplion. In 1655 at this place, the Turks tortured Saint Anastasios for his Christian faith. The value of Nafplio Olive Tree is not limited there, but it is interwoven with centuries of cultural tradition and with the city’s history. Moreover it has withstood many wars and many other adversities. With its huge trunk, its particular morphological characteristics and its ecological value, the old Olive Tree of Nafplion has rightly earned a place in the nature monuments of Greece.
